A bracket is used to clarify expression by grouping those term affected by a common operator.

    Bracket in maths is used to brack down real-life calculation to give it a clear understanding or meaning.

    Worked Examples

    Question (QT) ๐Ÿ‘‰ Oluwaseun is the father of Ibukun, Grace, and Comfort. he gave them 6 books to share equally with them self so as to prepare for there upcoming jamb.

    Solution

    from the expression ( 3 daughters to share 6 books equally) 

    Maths interpretation

    • Number of book give to each daughter \( \frac{6}{3} = 2\) 
    • 2 + 2 + 2 = 6  3 daughters was given 2 books each.
    • 3(2) = 6,  3 daughters given 2 books each. interpreted by grouping
      (QTC2) ๐Ÿ‘‰ At the end of the second month, Grace and Comfort demanded additional 2 books while Ibukun demanded 1 book. three months later when his daughter finish seating for there exam Oluwaseun(father) asked for the total number of books used in their exam

      Maths interpretation {way of writing this question }

      • 6 + 5 = 11,  the main point { father give 6 books the first month and 5 book the second month )
      • Maths will like to interpret this question with all character in it 3 daughters given 2 books each \( \rightarrow \) 3(2) = 6 the first month + Grace and Comfort 2 books  and Ibukun 1 book \( \rightarrow \) 2 + 1 = 3 second month \begin{align} 3(2) + ( 2(2) +1 ) & = 6 + 5 \\  & = 11 \end{align} the ( ) in 2(2) + 1 mean total for second month { character expression }

      6 + 5 = 11    { total number of book given to his daughter }

      (QTC3) ๐Ÿ‘‰ the girl answered 11 Oluwaseun{father} angrily ask Confort to return all the book given to her for the exam because she has a bad result

      Maths interpretation { rewriting the question from the first to the last }

      from the question, {comfort asked to return all his book} which is mean Confort have a debt of  3 books because she fails her exam maths. ( -4 )
      • 3(2) + ( 4 + 1 ) - 4 { Month view.  remember we started with 6 books 1st month + 5 books 2nd month and comfort debt for the -4 3rd month }
      • 4 + ( 4 - 4 ) + 3 { in Name view }
      3(2) + (4+1) - 4 = 7 and  4 + ( 4-4 ) + 3 = 7 answer are the same meaning it just arrangement.

      (QTC4) ๐Ÿ‘‰  Grace on her way to the room when overheard his father instructing Comfort to return all her books because she has a low grade in her jamb. she said to her self my result isn't too good too, that she will also return hers before he asks
      My question here is  how many books will Comfort and Grace return to there father

      Maths interpretation

      from Name View (QTC2) we have ( 2 + 2 ) + ( 2 + 2 ) + ( 2 + 1 ) = 11 which is 4 + 4 + 3
      4 + 4 + 3 -(4+3)  { the total number of books which Comfort and Grace will give back to there father }

      1. mathematics is interpreted in real-life activities
      2. Bracket means multiply what inside the (a) with what is outside 2(a).  you are not to replace it × because it is group for a reason. Will explain in my next post

For example: x - 3 = 2 If you put 5 in place of x; 5 - 3 = 2 This solution is true, therefore x = 5 is a solution of this equation. In the example above, there is only one solution for x.
